After the earthquake on May 27th in Java, Indonesia, NICCO, as a
member of Japan Platform, decided its immediate support for the
victims, and on May 31st, two of NICCO’ s staff were sent to the local
site. Together with an Indonesian speaking doctor from East Timor
working for the NPO corporation “Frontline 地球のステージ” and a Japanese
nurse, they started the emergency aid activities on June 5th. With
focus on the poorly aided suburban villages, they have formed a mobile
clinic team and are providing emergency medical treatment.
As of June 5th, 5,782 dead and over 20,000 wounded were reported, and
the number of casualties is increasing day by day. The infrastructure;
communication, buildings, etc were destructed, and people are facing
the difficulty of securing food and drinking water. The health issue
such as outbreak of infectious disease has now become a serious
concern. NICCO gratefully welcomes your financial support! (See
details mentioned below.)
Our further schedule
In cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross and the IFRC
(International Federation of Red Cross) supervising the medical aid,
